Gringo is a restaurant in Downtown St. Louis, MO, that offers a fresh take on Tacos, tequila, & cerveza. They approached me with an idea for a playful but modern brand exploration, with an emphasis on contemporary visual language that draws upon the sometimes campy visual language of American mexican restaurants.
We used this direction to create a logo that draws upon neon signage, with a playful illustration of a sombrero (every logo needs a hat!), and a standalone "G" icon for use in smaller applications throughout the restaurant. I was thrilled to see they took the logo and made it into a real-life neon sign. The food is great, and the atmosphere injects a modern, bright, and warm personality into the neighborhood.
